Just walked by atemple tank today. Saw all the fish in a total feeding frenzy. They reminded me of brokers on the floor of an exchange in every Hollywood movie about greed.

Basic levels and slight USM.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

I was not able to vote on this challenge, but if I had, I probably would have given you a 4 or 5.

My first reaction is "hey, my first submission to DPC was something similar". I love all the texture the catfish create, and it's wonderful that you have completely filled the frame. This adds to all the confusing and chaos. As for fitting the theme, I think this is less personification than it is representation. The fish litteraly represent a frenzy, that could be compared to any number of other aspects of life. I think most viewers were looking for inanimate objects in situations that gave them personalities. Your final score is a representation of missing the theme, and does not in any way represent the quality of your photograph.

Good luck with your future entries.

If you need any clarification on any of my comments, please feel free to pm me. It might take some time for me to get back to you.

Oh well, I guess it didn't fit the topic that well, thought I'd try since I really wanted to share the picture.

It's of a temple tank in Chennai (Madras) in South India. Hindu temples often have tanks, this one, in the middle of the city, was large and had been stocked with fish years ago. Some devotees offer rice to the fish as part of the worship process. As a result the population is well fed. Not sure if they ever cull the population, all evidence is they don't. The fish are very well fed and the population has grown. This was a close up. I have other shots but not quite sure how to share them here. The mass of fish probably extended about 10 feet away from the tank wall and about 50 feet along the width of the tank.

Interestingly enough, I got another shot, a week later, in Shanghai in the old city. This time, goldfish feeding, much more docile.

that is a lot of catfish - cool that they completely fill the frame - i don't think of a frenzy like this as a distinctly human event but more one that is a natural event in nature

I couldn't see any personification aspects in your photo...sorry.
