The flash was off the camera on the little stand it comes with with an infra-red remote trigger thingy.

Nice job on the lighting. And yeah, I do want the tip to be sharply focussed. It's part of the convention for these shots ;-) |

What's the point?
Heh! Couldn't help myself. :-) I have a flash and that lens - I should see what fun stuff I can do with it. Do you have the flash on or off the camera? |

Nicely composed. Image might have been better if the tip of the pencil wasn't OOF instead of where the lead meets the wood... but that's just my 2c. |
