This is just a picture I have been meaning to take for quite a long time now... This is the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) Located Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I live about a 30 min subway ride from here and pass by it all the time, but never have my DSLR and tripod at night... so I figured that this was a good excuse to lug my camera and tripod down.

The original building seen on the left was built April 16, 1912, and the crystal shaped addition was added June 1, 2007. The original building is still intact inside the crystal, If you go in the new entrance, you can see the old building in there, they just made some modifications to make it work.

I think this pic is suited quite well for the challenge because it shows both the before and after TOGETHER, and I think they go together quite well =)

I'm not sure how well it will do... meh =)

On a side note, I saw Eugene Levey down there while I was taking the pic... I think he lives right near there...

Greetings from the Critique Club...

I was not able to vote on this challenge, but if I had, I probably would have given you a 6 or 7.

I have only taken photos of the ROM during the day, but after seeing your photo, I will definitely have to make a point to go at night. This solves the problem of getting people in the shot as well. You've done well to divide the frame in half for the before and after. It works well. I'd love to offer some constructive criticism, but the only complaints I have are things beyond your control (firehydrant, construction signs, and lamp posts). Congrats on your top 10 finish.

Keep up the good work.

If you need any clarification on any of my comments, please feel free to pm me. It might take some time for me to get back to you.

It's a great photo to me and totally fits the challenge. 'ROM' means 'Range Of Motion' to me but I think it's the Royal Ontario Museum - either way it's a 10.

That thing looks crazy. Good job on the exposure, and the trailing lights.

Wow, that is an incredible looking building! Contrasts new and old quite well. Street lights are a little irritating, but not much to be done about that. Nice find.
