 I LOVE children's literature. Today I read "Too Many Tamales" to my students. It's a cute story about a little girl named Maria who makes tamales with her mother for Christmas. Well when her mother goes to answer the phone Maria starts to play with her mother's ring that she had left on the kitchen counter. You will just have read the story to find out what happens to Maria and to the ring for the ending. We had fun acting out the story afterwards, eating our own handmade tamales and drinking hot chocolate.

what a cute idea - especially to tuck in the ring like that. the kids must have enjoyed getting the real view of the story.

Hahaha - at the people who don't know tamales - yummmmmm!!! Living here in the Southwest, they are rampant around Christmas.

What fun! My kids loved teachers like you; their favorite had them do a project featuring chocolate, which of course involved taste-testing every single project ;-)

How fun to act it out with your students and make your own (never had a tamale before, don't really know what they are). This is a cute photo.
