Struggle for survival, against all odds. Ponderosa Pine on the rock ridge. I love this tree. The winds are high here. The moisture is infrequent. Yet, this tree grows out of the rock and captures its share of the sun.

The photo meets the challenge. The title is dramatic. It's a good photo in that it is framed well and has a good DOF. Critique: It's an average tree. Yes, it's growing on rock, but it happens all time.
