I did not take or process this for the challenge. It is from a number of shots I took on a tripod with my new camera under household (and computer) lighting to test it, and the higher ISO possibilities, though this was only 200. My subject finally ignored me as I moved the tripod about and shuttered away, and I could just concentrate on his concentration.

When I reviewed my pics I was taken with the white bg (refrigerator) and the curve of the lamp on top. Original picture is cropped a little at the top and a lot on the left simply because the paneled wall contains a lot of distracting items, and not at all on the left where the original framing cut off the back of the head. So I had this long and narrow shot; hence the fat black side borders. It was after the usual adjustments and conversion that I played with the fish eye effect - the minus side. I liked it, and the subject didn't mind the effect of more hair on the top of his head. Sent it off with this title to a friend who knew I was having trouble deciding whether or not to keep the camera.

I did have another picture in mind for this challenge, but then I thought this is probably the only wider venue appropriate for this one.

Whoa! How interesting! I'd say your new camera passed the test, wouldn't you? I think his expression and stance is just so fascinating. It is quite artistic, made even better by being in black and white.

An unusual and interesting portrait. The type of shot you just can't fake. well done.

It starts out as a normal shot. Then, it slowly transposes into something a bit odd and distorted. The room is beginning to assimilate the man. I find myself gravitating to the what appears to be a cup on top of the refrigerator, looking for a point of calm, a way to regain control before the room wins.

I like how the narrow background seems to echo and complement the shot and how the first impression is fooled into thinking it's a "normal" portrait.

for me a great image. very good the black and white, the model is clamorous(damn my bad bad english, I need the thesaurus for this word... i am sure theat clamorous isn't the exact translating of strepitoso but sorry i can't find another word). come back to the comment, the composition is good and particularry i like the curve of the door(?) near the face. good work.

I love the effect of a huge nose that seems to be warping space-time with its majestic bigness. It's such a weird, blatant distortion, but even so, it didn't register right away. It felt so real. Good work. I know you're in strange territory here, with no markers. It's brave of you to go here and I think you've really found something.

I am torn on this. I love how all the distortions and shapes meld man with his creations. However, the ear is very conspicuous and becomes unbalanced in focus. Maybe I spent too many formative years watching episodes of Star Trek when I should have been studying art or philosophy.

The crop and borders are perfect. The distortions remind me of a carnival fun-house mirror! Fun pic!
