I am new to DPChallenge. This is my first entry ever. When I saw the title of the challenge, I looked up and immediately saw my gf's bookshelf. Books are straight, right? So, I grabbed my Fugifilm Finepix camera and shot about 20 photos from different angles and distances. Some with a flash, some without a flash. This was the best photo (no flash, just ambiant light from a single lamp). I used Photoshop 6.0 LE to increase the master color saturation, but then lowered the yellow saturation from the raw pic to eliminate an (ugly) orange tint. I then used the clone stamp to cover a glare that was in the lower left corner. That is it.

I really like all the different dark colors.

Check your white balance. Make sure it is set for tungston when you shoot with ambient light indoors. That should take care of the yellow color cast.

Welcome to DPC. Nice compostition, with interesting lines. The dead space on the bottom does not work for me. Please review the Basic Editing rules as the clone you described is illegal.

Suggest better lighting for the shot.

I little on the dim side, but I like the angle and they way the stack of books leads my eye.

There is nothing that stands out to me about this shot. The horison is off, the lighting is flat, and the subject is uninteresting to me. It is not drawing me in.

noise is fouling up the black areas for me.
