 Edited mostly in Camera Raw, moved to CS3 where I slapped on a curves adjustment layer to shift the colors.

It was a fun and easy little technical/compositional study...and maybe a bit of wishful thinking for a decent score once in a while...most of the time I don't care about scores.

The backlight is this cool little light I picked up at IKEA a few years ago. I set it on a piece of glass and started playing. The hardest part was making sure the glass was super clean. I still missed a couple goobers but I'm pretty pleased none the less. I did clone out a hunk of sensor dust at the tippy top left.

"(2) you should not include wine or drinking glasses in your entry"

I am mystified by my sub 6 score...6.6 now down to 5.95. One comment hoping I'm not getting grief for using drinking glasses? These are vases. I have this feeling people are thinking NO glass of any sort.

I wish people knew how to read.

So lets make the rules encompass even more than they actually do? The spirit of the rule? Thanks you for this very enlightening comment, seriously. I pretty sure I know why my score isn't 6+...it's DNMC in some eyes.

...typical. My pandering couldn't even get a 6+ score. It's been an interesting experiment so far.

..dammit...back down to a 5.96 from a 6.o6 in a couple cranky votes since I've been signed on.

After: Cool, final score a 6+. I'm happy with that.

I can honestly say I really really enjoy doing these glass studies. The challenge is to be technically sound and creative/artsy...whatever also. It's like getting back to the basics in a way.

This really beautiful image was my personal favourite in the challenge. Not for one second did I think it violated any of the challenge details. They are so obviously vases (not drinking glasses or wine!). I was even scared to enter my first idea which was two glass candle sticks.

The background bokeh is very pretty. Overall I like. You did well with the 100mm to get this in pretty good focus.

Oh, I'm in so many minds about this one. Firstly, I really like this - the colours, the composition - everything. The problem is that although they are vases (I think) I think it still breaks the spirit of the rule that says you are not to use drinking glasses in your entry. Just my opinion, and I have been consistent with my voting on all the other 'almost drinking glasses' entries.

6 nonetheless, but would have been higher.
