Actually Steve, the phenomena you observed is more than likely the result of the Kubota action - good observation, by the way! - running the action applied some gaussian blur to the whole shot and then I was instructed to paint back in whatever I wanted sharp - which I did in a somewhat random way - the bridge, some of the rocks, a bit of the trees - basically just fiddled with it until it looked aesthetically pleasing (to me) and not caring one whit about realism :D

Absolutely stunning Karen! - and the picture is pretty good as well ;)

I love everything about this and am suprised you 'think' you have a better shot for the November Free Study! I do hope this place isn't too far from you as I'm sure its would provide many great images :)
