I used Topaz Adjust on this. I really like the retro look of it.

Don! The "hideous cosmic bowling ball art" is what makes it for me! I loved it! LOL

The processing accentuates the 70's feel, really suits the image.

after two days finally I have time for write a comment to this photo! well, I like this image and I think that the processing work. I like the old look. for other things, i don't know if this is a candid photo but I think that there is a setup here. and because there is a setup(as my personal opinion) I find some little possible improvement for the photo.
1) the ball shoud be near the skittles
2) you need a bit of space over the hand
3) a closer crop probably should be better
I admit my blame, i don't like particularry the bowling and I am a poor player(probably I played a couple of times in all my life....) but securely this photo have this sport in his DNA.

You want retro Americana here it is, maybe Skeeter Davis singing about the end of her world in the background ,it brings to mind a simpler time..

A great collage of ballet and Armageddon. It is unfortunate Don's personal bartender called in sick the day he first commented on this.

LOVE this! Not all of life is about the young, beautiful, club-hopping crowd. Much of it is about the kitschy, homey, fun. :))

maybe you're right... it works for me if I imagine him hurtling through the bowlarama universe like some kind of middle-aged superman...

This so perfectly characterizes the bowling alley in all of its glory.

Freaky cool editing. My dad would probably love a shot like this hanging in his bowling alley. Cropped a bit tight but whatcha gonna do. I have enjoyed this image.

The hideous cosmic bowling art is definitely what makes it for me, too! Very fun shot, and very "bowling", right down to the flair on the follow through.

First response was great laughter. Guess I like it for all the reasons posthumous does and doesn't. Possibly because I have always felt bowling was a kitschy sport - well, compared to lawn tennis and polo anyway.

The model, of course, is perfect, and you caught him at the exact right moment. Your processing is fine and does indeed give this a retro feel. The hideous cosmic bowling ball art does detract, however. The processing de-emphasizes it a little but also adds a bit of a sickly pall to it. Maybe b/w would de-emphasize it more, though I admit to a bias for b/w so don't trust me. I also wonder if the figure is cropped in too close.
