Nope, shot in manual, and it was almost directly backlit, and as a result was nearly washed out. Agree about the crop. It was one of those times when you end up too close to the action -- this also added to the 'softness' as it moved out of the focus plain by the time the camera fired. (gotta love the 300D). |

This is good sidelight, and had a great chance to be a good shot. A couple things bother me about this shot. If I had to guess this was shot in AV mode and the big shadows in the background fooled the camera for shutter speed, slowing it down enough to kill the sharpness of the moment captured. I'd also have recommended going portrait and not cutting off the bottom of the legs. But since you did lose the legs go tighter with the whole crop. |
