I don't love this. It's OK, and I did want a flight shot, but I'm not in love with it. Partly because it was a cloudy day so the colors right out of the camera were dull. Partly the subject, though it's not the goose's fault there were no more exotic waterfowl around. I do like the perspective (I crouched down to get it), and I froze the action well enough. Maybe it will grow on me ;-)
PP - converted from RAW, rotated, cropped, levels, white balance, 2nd layer (merged in Multiply mode at 30% transparency), dodged/burnt goose, cloned out a blue spot in the bushes, burnt foreground water and dodged goose reflection in water, blurred all but middle ground some more, increased contrast, added border, resized, sharpened with noise reduction. |

I quite liked this one...gave it a 7. The colors are very nice IMO. I like the natural earthy tones - has a nice rich feel to it. Had the sun been shining this wouldn't feel nearly the same. Your POV also adds a lot to the comp as it somehow makes viewing this image more personal.
BTW - Do you always go after wildlife handicapped with 75mm being your long lens? :-D I have to say; that surprised me when I noticed it. |
