I rather like the way that the two lines meet, the line of the needle and the line of the in-focus portion of the surface.

Simple and solid. You can certainly see the DOF on the finish of the car in this shot. Good composition too. It's sort of dynamic.

It looks like some sort of smoke pod gushing fumes behind it. Very nice. I wonder if it would hold that effect more if it were not on a flat surface, but suspended in mid air for the shot. I think there is a lot of room for some interesting experimentation with this subject.

If only you could zoom in closer - like to look at the molecular structure of the needle. ;-)
