I am taking a picture of the moon through a tree, the moon is not the light source. My flash lights up the ground before the tree and the tree itself in an otherwise very dark night.

Very nice photo - has a peaceful but surreal feel to it. Am I looking at the moon through the tree? If so, good eye for catching this.

this is absolutely beautiful! i wish i could vote it higher but the moon is not artificial. 7--shutterfly

I like this pic! Although I guess it's no artificial light source, it's a very very well done photo! 8 - KAOS and good luck for the challenge!

I have mixed emotions about this one. The subject is super, that is one tree that is photogenic, if they possess such qualities. I think the framing of the tree is mostly good, I wish the other side didn't get cut off, but I can see why it is due to trunk position and filling the frame properly. I don't like where the light is placed because I think more emphasis should be placed on the cool curvy (notice the hi-tech photomographical jargon) limbs. This is I think the challenge part of this challenge. As it is, it's pretty good. It has the feeling of an oil painting, which I really like. And I'm just sort of in the mood to talk today, so I'm sure if you aren't getting many comments, you'll be enjoying this one. I was going to add the "what I would have done..." part and if it really interests you to know, PM me and I'll tell you. Good Luck on this challenge. I'm finally done. - Inspzil

Two light sources maybe? Head lights and a flashlight? Heck, I'm just being anal. Love this shot. 9

Hmmm I don't consider moon as an artificial light source. If that so there is a light towards the tree. that means more than one light source. The photo itself is not so interesting. Should try adjust the colour to give an ambience.

That's an awesome tree! I sorta wish the ground wasn't lit up as much though.

wicked!

Very nice, subtle and good. I really like the tree. 10 Swash

Interesting shot. Like the cloudscape around the moon and the overall darkness of the photo is very supportive of the whole. Wonder what this would look like in B&W with the levels tweaked to make it a little more contrasty -- bring out the tree and foreground just a bit more.

I really like what you did with this photo. The grainy quality is great. Lighting and focus are good. 9 waltoml

Wow, this one is gonna be a fav. Very nicely done. lhall

can't make out whether that's a moon or a light but the light distracts from the tree too much, looks like it shouldn't be there.

I really like the grainy effect, nice job!

Beautifully done, I like the way the gaininess adds to the detail rather than as usual takes away from it.

The detail the camera has picked up in the branchs is interesting and textural, blends real and surreal effects.

Ooo Eeire, the grainy effect suits the picture well.
