This guy was really moving out - fast. But that shell is so beautiful, I had to have it.

Although there is a recognisable shape of a snail behind the shell, I feel that I'd like to just a little more definition to it and a little more DOF.

Yeah, I agree the brighter version reveals a lot more details and textures. It also brightens up the background, away from dirty brown.
