 Close up of my viola's bridge. Would have gone more macro (this is for the oct. 08 macro side challenge) but I really wanted to back out to catch the bridge reflection on the instrument.

I think it was a good choice to not get too close. Your composition is spot on and that reflection adds so much. BTW, we watched How Stuff is Made tonight and they showed how to make a cello. Fascinating stuff.

Definitely. Sometimes, one can be too close. The decision to back away to include the reflection looks to have been a good one to me.

Looked like a swiss cheese slicer in the thumbnail. Imagine my disappointment. ;-)

I like that bridge a lot. Looks as if a Picasso-type artist had
interpreted a sumo wrestler. Big planted feet, wide shoulders,
powerful arms...and those eyes!
(Never mind, I have a strange imagination.)

Anyhow, It might also be fun to try a macro of the bridge
reflection into the wood...

I love this one. Beautifully clean lines and perfectly balanced composition. The light is excellent -- I like the shadows cast by the strings on the bridge, and I like the reflection. The DOF seems exactly right. Nice warm colors. Really fine image!!
