Challenge: Light Source (Classic Editing)

Yes, flowers...I went against the norm and had a subject that everyone states is boring. Hopefully, I was able to make this one more exciting. My single light source was a 60watt blacklight bulb that I put in one of my lights. Post production consisted of desaturation, auto brightness/contrast, tinting and sharpening to get a better overall effect.

this is pretty but could be a lot sharper.

Nice composition and use of a single light source. I think I would have rated it higher if not for the lack of focus on the pink flower

A bit too fuzzy (lack of sharpness) for me.

Nice composition, but I would prefer the blooms to be more in focus.

Very pretty flowers. I think it would have been better with just the roses though or perhaps instead of the pink carnation, an pink rose. The carnation seems out of place in the shot. This was a lighting challenge and you got that right on.

IMHO it is not recommendable to present an image out of focus. When having such an obvious basic problem, you can only expect comments on that, and we miss the rest of your content.

Beautiful flowers but a little too tight for my like. Would have pulled back a little more and left blank around the edge as frame.

needs more contrast, but nice detail

Obviously, the subject is lit, but is it lit in a special way worthy of a challenge where the lighting IS the subject, or point.
good shot in its own right, but I mark as per the challenge.

Focus is a bit soft, but maybe that was your intention. Lovely composition

Very Nice. I like the dull color of the two bigger roses. Still seem like it is out of focus.

Photo needs to be sharper. The colors are nice.

Would have been better if it was sharper

great shot but a little out of focus.

Nice use of soft focus. This looks like a greeting card. 10 Niten

This came out very well! While I really like the roses, they came out wonderful, I'm less keen on the carnation, too bright against the subtle roses. Technically, you did great, much improvement over the earlier try. 8 Swash

good detail on the roses....Carnation pops out

I think I would have liked this better without the carnation. To me, it seems out of place and actually a bit too bright for the rest of the photo. The roses however are great. I really like the angle on them, and the framing/cropping are good as well. Focus might be a tad soft, but I can't complain, as the focus was the hardest for me in this challenge. Overall nice shot. Good luck in the challenge. ~Hbunch7187~
