There's a bit of a lack of focus here and that glare on top of his head is distracting. I like the Dear John idea a lot though, it seems more poignant in this one since his wedding ring is prominent.

Focus should be on the guy's face. That's the interesting part, not the US Army label on his shirt. Not voting, just commenting. Good luck.
