Ok, just for the record, this is about 40 miles away. BUT since you can't see the challenge details until AFTER voting, HA! :D

Tully is kinda...uh...quiet. :) Ithaca is beautiful and stuff. We have Tinker Falls, but... well I have photographed AND submitted Tinker Falls already. I was oot and aboot and landed this baybee. Hope ya like it.

Post processing:
Uhm. Well...
A lot.

1. Cropped.
2. Contrast/brightness to get more contrast and darker rocks.
3. Sharpened the lightness channel in LAB mode.
4. Resumed editing in RGB cuz it's fun.
5. Clone/healed the sharpness leftovers (overly bright spots on the rocks mostly).
6. Added a blue sky. After making crayon trees.
7. Added the crayon trees back as real trees.
8. Realized I could edit the sky a different way and did so.
9. Saved, uploaded and put da baby to bed!

(told ya it was a lot)

Happy you now have 150 favs ;)

Strangely I can not remember this photo at all. I didn't even vote on the challenge which is even stranger. I know I missed two challenges though, so maybe this is one of them (I remember the other one i forgot about).

Anyway since I alraedy have a billion of your images in my favs, I had to go with the waterfall. You know I love waterfalls lol

I wish the people were not there as they are very bright, yet they also give us some perspective.

In my critique club incarnation:

I feel a little uncomfortable with this photo. The setting is a good choice and spectacular but the picture itself is overall a little gloomy, I would much prefer it the other way around. The bad weather could be part of the problem. I also feel a slight lack of enthusiasm shooting a scene already documented several times. There is a lot of distance with your subject(s), the falling waters lack a bit in definition, the rocky face could use a little supplement of saturation, the scene seems a little slanted (even if it is not the case) and the group of people (that really attract the eye) are a little too far to add some human interest to the image.
A tendency we all have when photographing subjects that spectacular is to forget that non photographic elements like the sound and the wind, in this case, will not be represented in the composition if we don’t make a special effort in that direction. I think that including, by moving closer, this group of sightseers would have helped delivering a better sense of the atmosphere in this location and take advantage that way of the lousy weather conditions you had.

All the best,
JJ

Great view. I find the people on the right distracting to the natural beauty; did you try it in a portrait crop around the waterfall?

Very nice, I would have sharpened the rock a bit more.
