Just me because that's all you get. That's all I have to offer. Take it or leave it.

I've not submitted a photo in awhile. I typically do bad in Free Studies and I expect to do so here too. There is nothing particularly "wow" about this photo which is what is needed to do well in Free Studies, but this was pretty much the only photo I shot this month, thus it is my best shot for September. Plus it has been a really, really, rough month for me. This photo is my attempt to return to normalcy in my life (shooting again), while showing in the image that I've take some big hits of late.

I don't know if that comes across for others, but it does for me. Which was what I was going for.

I thought this was very good and voted it accordingly. Not just the light and comp, but it does indeed show a rather haggard, perhaps unsure expression. I hope things are looking up for you - I really do enjoy your work.

Beautiful lighting on your subject and love the position of the catch lights in the eyes. Congrats.

I really like the use of negative space in the shot. I am sure you will get both good and bad comments on that, but I personally like it and think it adds quite a bit to the interest of the shot. I also like the way you have used the lighting to give it a more moody feel. Based upon how clear the triangle is I am assuming a Rembrandt set up. The triangle is just a bit wide for my taste (probably should only be as wide as the eye at its widest) but there will be lots of folks who probably won't even recognize the effort, time, and intentionality of the setup. Technically very very good. I would love to see your eyes give some feeling, but is for me is all about the tech work that went in.
