Still With Motion a Moving Vessel.

Taken right on dark so as not to over expose the longer exposure, and still maintain a contrast in the image bringing the night to day. I raised the on board camera settings to suite the minimal processing for this challenge, and used manual focus so not to have any type last minute focus movement with the shutter. Waited until the vessel was half way through the frame and fired the shutter this gave the effect of still with motion in the frame with the vessel leaving the frame showing the longer exposure, the clouds in the sky were a bonus.
I am happy with the light reflection on the water, and the ripples of the vessel, as well as the transparency of the vessels in the background.
Hope this is DPC friendly, if not I really like it.

This is an awesome image straight from the camera. You did really well Brian, especially the soft hues in the wonderful blue colors. I am also very pleased it received some excellent comments, and I feel it deserved just a tad higher in the score, as I feel it deserved a 6 for sure. Well done, and as Deb says, you really do know your camera.

You almost got the 'Momentary Lapse of Sucking' punishment! Hard to believe this was straight from the camera -- the color, focus, and exposure are all so perfect. I really like the colors and the reflections. Thanks for sharing the camera settings.

Very well planned and executed. I like to read a photographer's thought process - what he wanted to get and how he went about getting it - it helps me learn alot! You have spectacular color in this shot, and that goes to both your planning in timing, and your internal camera settings for the jpeg. Shows you know your camera well, too. A beautiful image!

The sky looks amazing and I love those 'whoosh' reflections on the water.

cool tones and beautiful sky - i like how the light seems to flow out of nothingness in the moving boat - it is just too bad about the small item on the left...
