i liked how she blended in with the background - but was contrasting as far as sharpness goes.

I like this alot! I would normally recommend more contrast between subject and background, but I wouldn't change a thing here.

It's nice; actually though, I think you should try to darken the background selectively though, IMHO it would be stronger.
