Actually took this shot for the depth of field challenge and thought it might fit this better and possibly score better.

Shot on my deck late in the afternoon on a gold colored poster board, no other lighting. Cropped, adjusted curves, clarity, vibrance and sharpened in LightRoom

A little bland. Even though it's a very ordinary subject, you could have still spiced it up a bit more with a more interesting setup, or more dramatic lighting.

imo when you are showing a product it's better not to use a shallow DOF, other than that, it's a good picture!

Product shots would normally not have selective focus. The main idea is to show the whole product.
