Contrast was a lot more apparent in the red version, this definitely has a softer feel, a totally different vibe from the other. A good illustration of how changes in processing can affect the overall feel of a shot. Also looks like you might have a slight hot spot in the center of the lens (actually the kit lens you are using is very hotspot-prone), which wasn't so apparent in the red version.
So I guess I'm going to be completely contrary and say I prefer the version you started with. :) With this as a comparison, I can see now that what I enjoyed in the red version was the more starkly demarcated whites - for instance, the bumper of the van was a nice bright element amongst all that red, whereas here it is dimmed quite a bit.
Let us know in future shots what you are using - filter, converted camera? |

I'm guessing that this was a relatively long exposure. the van looks mostly in focus, while the trees and the clouds appear to have some motion blur. it's actually a pretty interesting effect. |

I like it, although it feels a bit soft. Can you try and include your specs in the about to help the viewer. |
