outtake fromBlack and White Abstract

I'm posting for some feedback. I was shocked by all the "dots" that were brought out in this image.

The way that you've composed this leaves the viewer to complete the spiral pattern in their mind's eye. I rather like that. The low-key sort of look appeals to me, too.

Thanks for the feedback. It was meant as an attempt at abstract, and it has a very shallow DOF.

Nice textures but the lighing is not quite right. The focus is also soft and needs to be sharper for this type of image.

It's certainly an interesting shot, what I like the most is that the dots look like they are on a different plane to the shell (almost floating). Makes a lovely abstract image IMO

For me it's a tad too dark and I somehow miss the separation between object and background. Could be this is because of the BW - with colors it might be different, as the background might have a different color than the shell. The dots you mention (sand?) seem to be more in focus than the shell, which is also somewhat distracting to me.
