Back at the dahlia garden yesterday, I spotted this bunch of bright color. With so much red, it ws hard to find the petals so after sharpening >dup layer>find edges & blending mode of Darken, I flattened the whole thing and did it again! Got rid of most of the resulting noise with Noise Ninja and this is pretty much how it ended up.

That worked really well! Masses of color are tough; I'll have to try this technique on a similar problem subject sometime.

It came out with pizzaz and class:)
Lining the edges of the petals helps define all the red petals..

Interesting technique to darken the edges -- it looks way better than the usual light haloing which results from heavy sharpening.

I think I have a recent frame-filling shot of a rose which might benefit from this treatment ... I'll have to try and find it.

Boy I can appreciate the effort that went into this one. And they say "white" is hard to photograph. Nice job, Allice . Really like the variety of things you have done with the dahlia.
