A small yellow flower from the clover in my front yard (these are about 1/4 inch across). These little guys were really hard to photograph well - and I am a bit annoyed with the DOF. What do you guys think?

Dainty and appealing. Only quibble is a little excess sharpening (I'm assuming) is leaving too harsh an edge around the lower leaf. But still a very nice shot.

Excellent colours and composition. Sure, DOF could be a tad bit deeper but it's fine the way it is.

I love this one. Beautiful and delicate yellow flower and the green background is really nice too

You did well- yellow is difficult for me. Like the DOF-natural :)

Hopping on the DOF-is-just-fine bandwagon :-) I tend to like very shallow DOF with a lone flower like this as long as the focus is somewhere in front, which this is. It does such lovely things for the background.

Awesome color! I think the DOF is fine, you get the details in the center as your focus point. Wonderful bokeh!

Love these kind of shots: lone image against a massive background. The little bit of softness on the top petals does not take away from the image, if that is what you are annoyed about. The eye goes to the detail in the stamens.

Another winner here, and this is just perfect in every way.....I like the DOF here, as it balances the flower and the background well..... Lovely colors together here, with the yellow and green tones.

Well..... I also like it the way it is.....

You have not got your setting here to see.

When I take macros now with my Canon 180mm macro lens

I play with the settings re the aperture, for the same shot, but with many different aperture settings as possible, and then choose the best result.

I could end up taking from 10 to 25, or even more shots, of the same subject, until I get it right. I have all the time in the world, that is on a good day, and just keep on trying, until I get exactly what I am trying to achieve. Some I win, but some I loose.

Gee, I love my macro lens, and also this flower side challenge. Keep these awesome flower shots coming, as I am so pleased with the images you are sharing with us. You have a very good eye for composition, detail, and color.

Very striking yellow/green colour combination. I assume you are referring to the DOF on the actual flower, because the background DOF is really good for me. With a flower as small as this, I think it is really difficult to get the whole flower totally sharp. You have to get so close..... I like it as is to be honest.
