I'm NOT a math geek myself. I know how Hexadecimal works and recognize it when I see it, but don't ask me to do calculations or conversions.
For those unfamiliar with hexadecimal, it uses a base of 16, as opposed to the more common Decimal system, which is base 10. The numerical characters are: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, and F. Hexadecimal numbering is most commonly used in with computers and other electronics.
I created a custom check register for this, but failed to realize how many digits the fractional portion of a hex number could run into. (It's no wonder we don't use this system for daily use!)I had to be careful to use numbers that converted to a short length of fractional digits. I did, however, use actual numbers that subtract out correctly, just in case one of the resident math geeks on DPC decides to check the accuracy of my check register.
Pre-challenge notes:
No definite feeling how this will do. Hoping for a mid to high 5, but not really sure. Last minute swapout with one of my alternate versions. (Second guessing myself, as always!) Pen could have probably been positioned slightly lower to improve the comp a little. I may get some comments about it being too centered.
Post challenge notes:
It came in about what I'd figured it for, so I'm pleased. It may not have had enough wow factor to get higher. Out of 147 votes, only 20 were a 4 or less, so that's doing well. I avoided most of the low votes, just didn't get enough of the high ones. |
