With a scene like this (and around 25 other shots like it) I really struggled to choose this one.

The cloud in the distance is a huge thunderstorm forming over the horizon. It actually looked very surreal in 'life' but it perhaps looks odd in the photo. There were some very atmospheric clouds sweeping across it at lower levels.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Hi Jon - nice to meet you!

You rocked the score, so what is there to say? Well, I would have liked to seen any shots you got of those other 25 that were with you standing a bit more to the right, kind of behind where the waves were breaking.

I think I would have also preferred a closer crop - forcing the sun and the crashing waves to be the only real things in the photo, making each more powerful.

The color and lighting here are what this image holds itself up by. They are superior and very cool. I would have liked to see this IRL.

Nice job here as always, happy hunting and good luck!

One of the best. Good luck! What is the dark halfmoon to the right of the sun? It looks too geometric to be clouds. I might try to smooth that out a little. That sun is so bright I almost need my sunglasses to write this critique. Really great shot! 9

Very good capture! Good exposure, it´s not easy shooting into the sun :)

Good capture of the breaker at sunset. If it was mine, I'd probably crop a little less than half of that sky out for a classic composition, but still, it's a truly nice image. Good one! 7

Nice capture and nice timing. That one cloud formation to the right of the sun (the darker formation) for some reason looks unatural in the scene... no fault of yours ofcourse. The waves are engaging

Very nicely done. I love the orange in this picture, really adds a wonderful mood. The breaking of the waves is well executed. Again, nicely done and hope you do well!

Horizon at the exat center detracts for me. Colors are very nice.
