When I saw the morning/evening challenges, I knew exactly what I wanted to get. I crossed my fingers, rode my motorcycle over 350 miles to Munising, MI and then paid $33 to take the chartered "sunset cruise" to Pictured Rocks to get this shot. I hope it does well. It's not a popular shot that has been done umpteen times here on this site, so I'm really hoping its originality garners a few extra 10ths of a point.(I'm a big believer in submitting unique shots that others haven't already submitted before) A search of the site doesn't turn up any shot of this shoreline in any of the challenges. I'm saving my best shot(s) for the August free study. :-)
I'm not big on guessing what my score will be, but a 6.8+ would be great. Getting my first ribbon would be icing on the cake as well seeing the effort that I had to go through just to get to this particular shoreline. But judging from my previous entries, this will probably fall down under 10th place and get only a 6.2. It's too bad this was a Basic challenge...

no cropping or rotating

It's a beautiful ride on a bike up through the UP. I'm originally from the northwest side (up in the Keweenaw) and did a 2 week photography/camping expedition across the UP on my old '80 Suzuki GS850 a couple of summers back and it was a blast. I did stop in Munising, but only grabbed a couple of shots of Miner's Castle. This shot of yours shows how much I really need to take one of those sunset cruises there (I still go up at least twice a year).
I missed voting this challenge but this shot goes into my faves. Lake Superior geology holds a dear place in my heart. This reminds me of similar shots all over the Apostle Islands. Great shot and well with the trip, IMO!
