Continuing to mine the archives for gold. When I came around the bend & saw these double tulips blooming in the shade, they were so beautiful I sighed out loud. It was as if the color white had appeared for the first time, ever, just for me. In 2006 I tried every trick I knew to recreate that "ooh" feeling & failed. Today, now, I have more tricks. After basic PP, I moved a few pansies around & cleaned up the petals before I cropped it. I tone-mapped it & merged the top 2 layers into one, which I used to tone-map it again, putting the pansies in the BG & brightening the whites. I could crop it more, but it hurts like a hangnail to crop flower shots. C&C welcome.

Quite stunning, and also quite dramatic, re the strong contrast between the blue background, and the white flower.....

Thank you for those details. I'm just beginning to experiment with tone mapping so this excellent example helps a lot.

Don't see that tone mapping it made a noticeable difference over the original, and to me that's a great thing (not a big tone mapping fan). The contrast between the whites and those deep, rich blues is very nice.
