I love your black and white toning and I love your subject. Your composition seems stifling to me - a lot at the bottom, which would tend to give an airy feeling, but very tight at the top, which seems to be strangling. Additionally, the very heavy border so close to the subject (at the top) further constrains my view. For me, if the third (background) pot wasn't there, the composition would be a little freer. But, with the toning, I'm led to believe that you knew this would happen, that you know the basic rules of composition and you intentionally confined the subject. And then I read the title and think, "Yeah, they knew what they were doing." Everything seems too precise to be accidental: the DOF, the angle, the deliberate crop, the heavy border. So, there's nothing I can do but give you a 10, add this to my favorites as a reminder, and wish you luck in the challenge. |
