I was in Shelton, WA with my father (pillikcam) when I saw this Dragonfly. It had a broken wing so it was unable to escape as I took 5 million pictures of it. (exaggeration) I could get as close as I wanted to this awesome creator. I could not have asked for more with the equipment I had available. The lighting was mid day and off to the left, the wheat it was on was well groomed. The only thing I would have liked was to have my reflector with me so I could play with the light a little more. However, given the circumstances I am very pleased with this photograph.

I do not know why its eyes where red like that, but it only happened once at the very beginning of the photo shoot. The rest of the pictures have its eyes all green or cyan color. This is the main reason for picking this photograph over the others to captured, because this one really stood out. If anyone knows why the eyes where like that, I would like to know.

looks like the focus isn't in the right place

The head is slightly soft - more depth of field overall would help.

You really did do a good job of getting a great "expression"! It looks as though the light was fairly strong for this shot, resulting in the loss of some detail.
