This is underrated. In reading the incredibly deep dramatic commentary others saw in this photo, my comment that it was a "fun odd sort of shot" seems out of place now! : ) Before having my perspective changed by the comments of others, the pic just felt like a moment of recess /enjoyment - a boy taking a break from somthing dull & just being a boy. Well, either way, it's a good shot!

this reminds me of Ed Clarke the way it integrates humanity into architecture, but gives the edge to architecture. Well done.

would KAFKA be amused?

wow one eyeblink later and it would have been an empty balcony
excellent timing

but still its time for perking things a bit

Hugely under-appreciated. My reading of the photo was much as Inede's.

This is interesting. The shadows of the bars and the heavy block wall work well to only imply imprisonment or oppressive authority over your citizen K. Even the way that he seems trapped on the balcony is an illusion that only adds to the story. My only concern is that although the lines and shadows are strong, the boy is quite small and so it is easy to miss this one visually.

Sharpening / contrast is a bit harsh on my eyes here, but I like your (Oded I presume?) Jerusalem series, as shown on DPC. (not voting).

edit: coming back to say that the harsh contrast on the wall actually works well, as it emphasizes the soft attributes of the figure.

Great textures and shadows. I just wish the person was looking towards the camera.

You have a terrific eye. This is a very interesting picture. One could read alot into this image. The stripes on the shirt and on the wall are what first catches your attention. Then I realized it was a young orthodox jewish boy and it conjures up memories of the holocaust and yet to me he is outside the stripes representing that he is free of a repressive past. A sad yet happy picture. Anyway, everyone has their own interpretation I am sure. Great shot.

Fun odd sort of shot. Love the lines and the little interesting character in the corner.

I like the textures and patterns in this photo. having a human element in the photo gives it a sense of scale.

Beautiful simplicity. I think I like the opposing stripes. Might be a nice study in black and white too.
