Many thanks to my tutor Alan Hunnisett, a truely BRILLIANT still life artist for his tuition on how to set up still life composition. This is MY set up using MY fruit etc however I must express thanks to Alan for his many hours of talking and showing me the techniques used by the old masters and the new ones alike. Cheers Mate.

I would like to think that Still Life photography is where I do well so I will be bold and say....

Dude, you were really, really robbed on this. One of the few actual still lifes in the challenge, and very masterfully done. Lovely.

Well you were the best of the worst mate, so at least you have that going for you. As all the rest too bad this didn't do better, it should have.

This was in my top few votes as well. I'm not sure if you exactly nailed the "still life composition" aspect, but it's pretty darn good. However, I loved your natural lighting and the fact that you went for a classic definition of still life rather than just "an object".

MAK, this is indeed truly beautiful and a great example of Still Life. I really can't understand why it didn't score higher...

Looks like there is a mass protest of the total lack of credibility the voters have in picking the proper photos to win awards. I will join the club!! Your scores SHOULD have been at least between your est. score and dream score. You got robbed!

I can't believe it ended up below 6. Blows my mind. Outstanding still life regardless of the score.

This is outstanding stuff. I didn't get a chance to vote, but this is what I think about when I think still life. A post challenge 10 from me.

HIGHLY under rated!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was in my top 2 as well. Now, if only I could shoot a still life as sweet as this .....

Blows my mind that this was only 5.9. You and Redjulep should have scored MUCH higher than this. So many of the entries in this challenge were not really still life.

This really proves DPC voters have no idea what a still life is. Good grief. Should've been top 5.

I can't believe a feather beat this. This is good. Maybe if the vase was closer to th pinapple, it would eliminate the grey gap. It's a classic style still life.

The light and background are nice. The way the setup is made with a gap between the pineapple and the vase, somehow splits the frame into two. I would have either brought them closer or put something else there.

neat arrangement with effective lighting.
To be picky I would have the fabric either smoother or more creased, (not like it just came out of a drawer) :)

This is my favorite of the challenge in which most photos aren't actually still lifes. The crease in the cloth is not adding anything, but it's also not distracting enough to be bothersome. Love the light you achieved - looks like natural, but I could be wrong. In any case, this is a lovely image.

Best still life pic out there, i think many people in this challenge did not get it, or may be i am too restricted. Nicely captured, only dont like shadows too much and lines on the cloth below, you should have pressed it smooth. Still a 9 only one i gave in this challenge!! Very well done
