The sunflowers are up again in southeastern Connecticut. A farm in Preston grows sunflowers each year and draws hundreds of people a day to take photos and stop by their ice cream stand (//www.buttonwoodfarmicecream.com/)

Editing: Raw image converted to Jpeg using Nikon NX software. Adjusted levels, selective colors, curves, noise ninja, crop, resize, save for web. USM post resize.

Post Challenge: Thanks for the comments and favs during voting...it kept my interest in the shot even though the score was not there. Several commented on how they would have like the image better with just flowers - but to capture the heat of a summer evening I really felt that it was needed. I appreciate your point and realize it may have just been me that needed the sky to get that 'hot' feeling...

And thanks to cutout that reminded me that I am not a famous, dead painter - I agree with him - I am neither a painter or dead.

Peter, I really think this was under appreciated. And I agree with your choice to keep the haze there. Great shot!

pastel shades work well for the hazy distance but subtract from the impression of heat on the foreground flowers...

Nice colors, i think croping to get just the flowers in frame, works better, but that just my personal preference

The sunflowers almost seem to be glowing from the sun being caugh in the little fibers. I love that effect.

I think it would look more interesting with nothing in the backgound, and sunflowers filling the entire photograph.
