Went hiking in the woods with my sister. We came across a lot of mushrooms. It was cloudy and in the early evening.
My post processing steps is as follows:
converted from raw
levels
curves
selective color
saturation
dodging and burning
converted to B/W
noise ninja
resize
smart sharpen

Too dark and the DOF is too shallow on the stem of the mushroom.

Black and white works well here. It's a pity there isn't more depth of field so the edge of the large fungus is sharp.

Love the contrast!! It has that mysterious, magical feeling to it. The little one looks like it just popped up out of the ground! Nice choice for black and white!

Love the contrast. This is cool but I am afraid a bit too dark for the DPC crowd. I hope I'm wrong. My only complaint is the blur along the front rim of the large mushroom. :~)

On one hand I like the extreme darkness, and on the other hand it's a bit too much. For me, it's the area around the main mushroom top. If I could see more of an edge and not have it... "disappear" into the blurred background I don't think the heavy black would bother me. I do like the composition and lighting. Nicely done.
