It's on topic considering the focus on the dead log. Not sure about the overall surrounding but it would've been nice to see more of it. (no vote)

The wood is just too dark it should be more of the focus of the photograph since that's your title but it just blends in.

I would like this a lot, except that I think the wood is underexposed (a tough lighting challenge, I think.)
