Challenge: Window View (Advanced Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-10D
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Date: Apr 10, 2004
Aperture: f6.7
ISO: 100
Shutter: 15"
Galleries: Cityscape, Travel
Date Uploaded: Apr 11, 2004

Taken from my apartment. I had to move my couch, a coffee table and a few other things.

My lens is a 28mm (which on a 10D means it's closer to 50mm), and that's not wide enough to capture this triple window from directly in front of it. So, I had to move to the side a little. I turned off all the lights, lit up the window frames with tea lights and took long exposures to capture the city lights on this hazy night.

I had the camera on a tripod at my height and used an external shutter release to keep from shaking the camera.

I like the triptych effect of this shot; but I think it's marred a bit by the loose blindes to the left of the center and left panels. I think if they were tucked over tightly against the sides of the windows the effect would be stronger. I like the lighting and mood; would probably look good in B+W as well.

Very pretty view - the only improvement I'd suggest is taking the photo from straight on, standing in front of the center window. Nice job with the exposure and city lights.
