Did not do any HSL.
Used my $10 extension tube and shot in RAW
Used Silkypix to lighten a bit and then applied some contrast.
In PS7: crop, dodge and burn, levels, sharpen.

The idea is that the 4 stamen are the points, they do have a nice dark color (no one said that color had to be bright), and they are supposed to be what attracts your eye first. I'll be curious to see what kinds of comments I get. As far as I am concerned, this DOES meet the challenge.

You have a good eye for composition. I like your portfolio a lot. Much of interest in it.

Definitely points in color at any rate! Wonderful DOF here and the composition is perfect. Great job of getting rich warm color without resorting to HSL, too.

Really beautiful, and great colors. I didn't vote on it but I certainly get the "point" after the fact! :=)

This was great macro, but - to my shame - I think I failed to get it. You are 100% right when you mention that no one said that the point of colour had to be light. I looked at this shot and thought 'beautiful but the colour - ie in my eyes that flower rather than the stamen - was not a point of colour.

I need to open my mind as well as my eyes a little.

I scored this a 5 but having read your description I can see this was a greivous underscore

Sorry Michelle, definitely a case of the voter being wrong and not the photo

Seems more of an entire background of color. I can see however, that you wanted the yellow to stand out. I do like it, though. Nice application of a narrow DOF.

Very nice macro work, looks like you got just what you wanted in focus and it worked perfectly imo.
