There is actually an interesting story to this photo. I went to a small lake up here Minnesota that is within 5 miles of my house to capture the sunset. The lake has no public boat access but it does have a small ATV trail going down to the lake. After making the hike down there the sunset looked like it would be quite drab as there were clouds moving in. I decided to go back up the ridge on the east side of the lake and down the other side where there is a swamp, the one you see pictured here. There was a small stream about 4-5 feet across around the edge of this moss floor. I hopped across the log and onto what looked like soft but still solid ground. Suprise! It was not solid and I immediately got wet nearly up to my knees. After that I figured I was as saturated as I was going to get so I stayed out there and kept taking photos. It was so weird though because you never broke through the moss but every time you took a step the whole ground would sink underneath you 12-14 inches and water would come up through and fill the hole around your ankle. Anyway I was busy looking east and just happened to glance behind me and then I noticed the sky was completely orange. I quickly got out of the swamp, over the ridge and facing west across the lake and started snapping the sunset photos I had originally came there to get. This photo you see here actually turned out better than the ones of the sunset. Ironic isn't it?

Thanks!

This shot was handheld as I left my tripod by the lake on the other side of the ridge. The red/orange on the tips of the trees on the right side of the image was where the sun was just peaking over the trees on the ridge behind me.

Post-Processing:
First I used shawdow/highlights then I did a lot of global color and lighting adjustments using levels, hue/saturation and curves. After those it was just resize, sharpen, and border.

I like your story of finding this view of a sunset on the opposite side of the sky.
East view of orange light reflected on the tips of the trees retains a time of day representation.
The swampy character of the land comes through & the fire in the trees effect is very interesting and beautiful. An excellent edit and wonderful landscape.

Gorgeous! What is the orange on the right? I'm thinking it is a light reflection.
