After a severe crop to get rid of as much background as possible, I used levels to bring out as much of the black cat as possible, spending extra time on the eyes. Then sharpened the daylights out of the image, followed by a strong application of Noise Ninja, and finally, since that just wasn't enough, I tried a filter - Pallette Knife seemed to bring out the best of this image.
these cats belonged to a good friend, who died a year ago, and I wanted something to show her friends (and the cats' friends) a year later.
