I made this photo of our compost can in our backyard in the forest in Cannon Beach, Oregon. We've composted for years and years, dumping our organic scraps into our cans in back of our house. Every year, we get several cans full of good earth to put into our yard and garden. The "canvas" of compost materials includes a banana peel, eggshells, cantelope rind, romain lettuce leaves (we purchased from our local Farmer's Market) and locally grown Oregon strawberries. I had just made strawberry jam that morning and had all the stems to put into the compost can. I turn the can every few months. Earthworms and nature does the rest. Title was inspired by the well known bumper sticker "sh*t happens". When it does, put it into the compost can and convert it to good earth for the garden of your soul. Here's to green living!

This was my only 10 of the challenge. Can't believe it didn't come higher up the ladder!

Lighting lacks impact. Everything disappears into the shadows.

Yup. It'll break down faster if you put some brown material in there like wood chips or straw. Straw is my favorite because it helps to aerate ensuring that it doesn't go anaerobic.

You need more brown in your pot!! Gonna smell amazing in a couple of months.
I love the composition and the colors in this. We compost so I get the concept in the photo. Those that don't would definitely require the title. :)

well done compost shot - the intensity of the greens in the ferns and undergrowth really accentuate the shot - nice job
