Location: Southend on sea - Essex, England

Shutter: various
Galleries: Seascapes, High Dynamic Range (HDR)
Date Uploaded: Jun 27, 2008

This is HDR image from 3 bracketed exposures and combined/tonemapped in Photomatix Pro3

Then in CS3 I did some levels and curve adjustment layers and some dodge and burn on a seperate layer.

I hope this does well as I love it and it's my first real attempt at a proper tonemapped HDR

Dream score: 6.8 (or anything that would put it in my top 4)
Est Score: 6.3

I LOVED this one, and it is a shame it did not get on the front page, where it belongs.....

Got your dream score, got your top row placement! This is a very well done HDR image - what gives it its strength is the very strong composition you started with.

Great image and processing – for sure top 10 if not better!!! Wish you luck at roll-over! Nothing I can suggest to change/improve.

Love the PP here, that will come as no surprise. Unfortunately, to my eye there's a huge leveling problem going on here, and it's a strange one:

The image FEELS as if it is leaning over tot he right significantly. I ran some guidelines on it to check, and in fact he horizon itself is very nearly spot on level. But the other horizontal elements are all off kilter slightly, and all stacked tot he right side pretty much, so it just FEELS leany in a very uncomfortable way to me. I used skew adjustment to make it feel "right", and when I had finished that the horizon was tilted a little bit the other way, but overall the balance seemed better.

I'll be interested to see if others comment on this. I gave you a very good score regardless, this just nags at me. Feel free to PM me if you wish to discuss, I am done with the voting on this image so anonymity does not matter here.

Lovely scene but this looks just too over processed for my taste.

Good composition. Feels a bit tilted to me, though

This is a very pertty HDR, but I end up wanting more from this scene. With a strong horizontal component in your composition (the horizon), you do yourself a disservice with a vertical crop. I don't get a sense of the foreboding infinite that I ought to feel when I look at a storm moving in over the ocean.
