Just a little fun. This character, Marimokkori, originates from Hokkaido, where there is a lake that has marimo. Mokkori is a word that means something like "pants bulge" in Japanese. It means "necklace" in Korean, apparently. Put them together and you get Marimokkori.

As with Hello Kitty and other characters, there are many localised versions; that is, the character is dressed up to represent some place's well-known feature or product.

So here is the replica Statue of Liberty from Tokyo's Odaiba, a baseball player, and some fish and shellfish dish from Ibaragi Prefecture.

There is also a female version with other lumpy attributes. ;-Þ

I'm so envious of Japan's fun little toys and characters, these are great!
