I contacted a person here in AK that is a plant specialist. He said it is
emerging shoots of false hellebore, Veratrum viride. A common plant in Southcentral Alaska, found in subalpine meadows.

Mystery plant. Tell us what it is? Looks like a root-ball type like a hosta maybe. Very interesting, good shot.
