 I took a hike up to Trillium lake for the first time with a friend this month. We had worried we were going to have to hike the road in over two feet of snow as reported by the ranger, but instead they had plowed that day and the road was bone dry and bare (the temp was in the 60s that day). We still had to hike it as the gate was closed, but it was no trouble. Then it was merely a matter of setting up and waiting 2-3 hours as the sun to slowly set.

This is a composite of two pictures. One for the sky and mountain which was underexposed and one for the water which had a long exposure. The blending was done manually. I've really gotten away from Photomatix these days and prefer to do things by hand.

This will probably go up on my wall as a memory for a great time with my friend Jeremy who will soon be departing to the Solomon Islands to do full time missions. I'll miss him. Hopefully he will bring me luck as he was drinking a cup of hot chocolate to my right when I snapped my Wildlife III picture of the deer on the Olympic Coast.

I will have to look up this place and drive down there next month, I just hope I don't have to hike too far as I'm very limited now. Very inviting image Jason.

Beautiful image Doc. The only way it could be better is if you had gotten down in the water near the first rock and made it a much bigger part of the composition. Er.... considering your luck, strike that.

Gorgeous blue, I love the way the water is shining almost like its turning to ice but the lush greens in the background just make it seem very fresh. What a postcard perfect scene.
