This is my niece (11) and nephew (just turned 15)

They're growing up so fast, and I wanted to get some pics while they were down and this challenge popped up so I took advantage of it. It was my excuse to get them to hug up on each other , where they normally wouldn't do that :P

Critique Club Review:

Color Saturation & Hue: Very well done, skin tones look very natural. Brightness and contrast: Very good as well. Focus and Depth of Field: Focus is excellent, plenty of nice sharp detail. Depth of Field appears shallow. Although the subjects are well isolated from the background, the subjects themselves go soft in the bottom half of the frame.

I think I might have cropped this one tighter. You pict an unsual vantage for the image, and the softness makes it even more apparant. Had you cropped out his right arm, it also would have removed her partial arm, making the image stronger.

Overall a very nice image. Congratulations on making the top third of the class.

This one is a keeper! I love the relaxed feel of the two. I am sure the parents are pleased with this one.

Point of view almost seems to high and think this might have more impact if it wasn't shot from so high up, that is unless you are really really tall, or they are really really short. *grin*

The arm around the shoulder seems wrong for some reason, almost like it's not his. Otherwise, a nice crisp portrait.

This is one of my top 3 picks in the challenge. You nailed the exposure and the smiles look relaxed and natural. 9

Some would argue her hand on his shoulder is a distraction due to it being visually detached, i.e. you can't see her arm. His arm draped over her takes over the shot a bit. But choice of background and shirt colors guarantees via color contrasts that your eyes are drawn to theirs due to their dark hair.
