I am sure that there will be many beautiful cowboy pictures in this challenge and this photo will be punished lol. But I just felt compelled to enter it. This is a child's cowboy hat and I wanted to use it to represent the sense of innocence and youth. Sean was young and had so many years ahead of him. And like a child in a cowboy hat, he should have had many years of adventures to experience. Unfortunately, the powers that be had other plans for him. And it is my belief and hope that Sean is now embarking on more spiritual opportunities.

Best wishes to Sean's family.

POST: Good interpretation by glad2badad about me including the sun and flare in the photo. Notice the flare coming out of the bottom (left) of the hat?

I absolutely love the rim lighting on this shot. Nicely done.

I felt that the best shots in this challenge were the ones which avoided too much bathos and this is one of them. To ne honest I had not seen the light as anything spiritual but I thought the picture evoked peace and tranquility which one hopes awaits us all. I will be honest and say I did not like the title but I did like the image and its way better that way round than the other

Nice tribute

I like the composition of this image, and the back lighting gives it a nice emotive touch. The two things I would like to see a bit different are the exposure and the sepia tone. It is a little too dark and a little too orange, at least on my monitor. The sun rays in the background are very nice. I wonder if there is a way to emphasize them a little more.

Like the color and sun behind, but this doesn't quite do it for me.

decent shot but more could have been done with it.

Nice backlighting overall. I'm guessing you intentionally wanted the bright light to be subliminally representative of the afterlife? It's a risky move (the extreme lighting) for scoring well, but it is a fresh take from a photography standpoint. Good luck in the challenge.
