Taken when visiting Grand County Colorado. I walked to less than 100 feet from the moose (this is risky). The lens was at 500 mm.
Last year I walked within 10 feet of a sleeping bull moose.

Awesome detail on this guy! You were lucky to capture this action. Would you mind posting a few more details about the shot in your comments? (i.e. distance from subject, focal length, etc.)

That looks like a pretty complex maneuvre :- )

I wonder if it's possible to lighten the side of his face a little so we still get to see his eye ?

Great pose :-) I'd dodge his eye just a bit to bring it out; I see catchlights there but they're subtle.

I like the fuzzy little new antlers. Nice focus and DOF. I'm quite impressed with your lens. I have a rebel XTi and am looking for a good zoom lens. I have motion blur problems with my Canon 70-300mm IS lens. How close to the subject were you when you took this shot?
